When in Rome ... prunes on steroids

After such a late night last night, we were glad for the sleep in this morning, until just after 8am.  We didn't have much planned for the day really.  Fortunately for us, Roger needed new shoes and so Pat told us about the shops down at Ponte Milvio, so after a quick coffee at our apartment, we all set off for the walk.

It was Ennio's lucky morning when we all arrived.  Not only did Roger get his new shoes, but we all ended up with at least one pair of new footwear each - and a discount!  The shop had an enormous range of shoes, including crocs.  And not just the standard crocs that I've seen, but a whole range of 'fashionable' (certainly comfortable) crocs.  Sue bought a pair of sandals (really, you'd never guess they are crocs) and when we got back to our apartment, we all had a giggle over the warning label attached:

"To avoid severe personal injury when riding escalators & moving walkways
     -  stand in the middle of the step facing forward
     -  do not contact any surface next to the moving tread or step
     -  step carefully when getting on or off
     -  hold children's hand & supervise children at all times"

Seriously.  And this was in tags in 6 languages!  For a pair of sandals!!!

I bought a pair of tivas, and I'm going back to the shop tomorrow to ask for a refund because I didn't get any safety notice with mine ...

We were all so exhausted buying all those shoes - and resisting the urge to buy more - that we just had to have lunch and then head back up the hill home.  The rest of the afternoon passed in a blur, and tonight rather than head into the Colesseum with thousands of others for the Good Friday Papal celebrations, we watched it on the telly over another magnificent meal that Mimo had prepared.  It was strange to watch it on the TV, having only been there yesterday and as Pat said, it's just 10 minutes down the road!

Still unable to add photos but I'll get this sorted tomorrow and will add some ...
